AMAMOTO SHION | 天本 星媛
OVERVIEW
ALIAS: The Hero from Beyond.
AGE: Thirty-nine.
GENDER: Female.
ROLE: Hero.
HERO NAME: Starstrike.
CHARACTER SUMMARY
It was in fact just after she graduated top of her class from UA, Japan and the worlds #1 Hero school. She had a stellar record of an indomitable work ethic that constantly pushed her to take another step forward where others hesitated. Some would argue she tried too hard, or she was compromising her mental health, the truth was that while she made the hard choice those feelings of resentment would never entirely leave. The remembrance of how horrible Humans can be, not even the villains- all of them. She pushed herself so hard not to be the shining paragon to save the world, but to be able to show to those that treated her terribly throughout her life that she did it. That she was greater than they were- she wasn't exactly the most altruistic of people.
Yet at the time she'd been entrapped in the spirit of UA, go beyond! That's what they say, and what they still say. A motto that is either meaningless, or the definition of some of the most threatening Humans on the planet. The kind of Humans that truly are willing to destroy themselves for a cause, to step into the void of utter obliteration at the simple knowledge that it would help accomplish something they believed in. Sometimes the ones that could go the furthest were the most unhinged, detached from the reality of the situations they are in with tunnel vision on their ambitions. That was Starstrike, who at the time truly did believe in all of the UA jargon.
Graduating with a background of three years of top notch intensive training started on the backbone of a curious endeavour to test her powers to their limit during her childhood, she was a sensation. Such an uncanny look was bound to draw eyes, but in the years after UA she'd snag win after win against villains. She'd join and leave agencies again and again until word spread that she was difficult to work with and people stopped trying to recruit her. She was a lone wolf, determined that she'd need to bear the weight of the world on her shoulders in order to prove them all wrong. To prove them that she was enough, that she fit in.
Some of her greatest battles against terrifying villains would end up being covered by massive news networks and leave scars on her that she carries to this day. A body marred by an intensive career of all out war; an outright invasion against the worst Humanity has to offer. She bears tens of thousands of hours of experience pounding in the villainous kind, and sniffs out scum like a bloodhound. Through the years the growing powers of her quirk and might led to some serious financial troubles even for having the government salary of a licensed hero. She was infamous for causing severe collateral damage on buildings and neighbourhoods: sparing civilians at least. Stacking fines and repair costs one after another led to a declaration of bankruptcy in her mid twenties.
She struggled with holding back enough, knowing full well that villains can be as durable and persistent as cockroaches. When she went bankrupt, a support agency reached out to her with a proposition for a fix. A prototype they were developing, the founder having been a fan of hers. The founder of the agency had actually been in the same year as her during their time at UA, of course he was in Class H instead. He reassured her that she didn't need to pay upfront and could cover the costs as she recuperated from her financial situation. Needless to say, the prototype certainly had its flaws, but it brought out an entirely new Starstrike.
She was able to condense her quirks offensive power into a single point that significantly reduced collateral damage while increasing the direct damage she could cause to a single point. It brought out what fans would call her resurrection era, where she began to learn how to aim and use firearms and adopted entirely new battle tactics. She'd recover from her financial slump despite no change to her activity as a hero, simply benefiting from the reduced repair costs accrued over time.
Years flew by as she continued her invasion against evil. The amount of villains she jailed monthly was well in the dozens, but most of them weren't big names. There were a handful of gargantuan battles she'd been involved in over the years, and several of the worst were bittersweet victories that ended with her hooked up to a respirator in an ICU. It's no surprise that a Hero gets injured, many heroes die on the job. Each time she was knocked down she'd get back up. A tree with scars for ornaments, a veteran decorated with them over centuries.
Her thirties would introduce a new change. Everyone has it, the moment one hit that age and they reflect on all the things they hadn't done or weren't able to do. That feeling of life being too short, and missing out on something important. It was crisis, and she was no different. Her thirties, most of which has now passed would be called her True Era. She pushed herself further than she'd ever thought she could, becoming a terrifying opponent for any evil doer. The increased activity and ambition of those activities naturally led to more of those ICU stays: the worst of which was a time where she nearly clocked out on life entirely. She had received a stab wound straight through a lung and her body on the left side of her chest. The wound caused a punctured lung. It would be a black mark even after recovery, as she would need to be conscious of her choices going forward if she didn't want the damage to resurface. She even had to cut out smoking cigars from her life.
Though she couldn't give up moving forward, and to this day her uncanny devotion to her goals and ambitions drive her further beyond. She would keep training as hard as she could like she has in the past, but even harder. She'd keep fighting as hard as she could as she did in the past, but she'd learn even more.
She's been active more around Hero schools lately, and while she isn't staff at any of them she's been known to offer consultations and support to academies should they request her services.
Is the world yet to be Starstruck? Or has the shooting star already flown through the night sky?
Quirk AND SKILLS
QUIRK TYPE: Mutation.
QUIRK DESCRIPTION: Space Invader is a mutation quirk that emits a strengthening aura from orbs and rings that seem to naturally exist around Shion's body. Seemingly indestructible, the bobbles passively let out a thrum and hum that empowers Shion. This makes it highly compatible with support equipment. Naturally the quirk is a superhuman enhancement that makes Starstrike more physically capable in the following categories: speed (not agility), strength, endurance, reaction speed and perception. The orbs seem to provide her strength, the rings provide her durability and the cobalt metal cone-like spinal factories seem to continuously develop and inject her with a substance that enhances her perception suite (vision, hearing, touch, smell, taste).
The creative potential with Space Invader presents itself with the existence of support equipment. With the right tools, the same energy utilized to empower Shion can empower the things that she uses. For instance her signature Support Item resembling a Raygun isn't a naturally created item. Instead the raygun was made and blasts it fires out are empowered by her quirk, a way to provide a more precise and controlled attack instead of her infamously destructive natural abilities that almost always ended in pricey collateral damage. The blasts from her raygun carry a similar force of her punches as if they were focused on a more precise point, resembling a chromatic plasma orb and an accompanying shockwave when it fires. The shockwave is capable of causing only a fraction of the damage the ones from her punches can cause, and is why her favoured approach is using her support equipment. Even made of hyper-strong metal alloys, the raygun still needs to be replaced once in a while.
It is certainly possible for future support equipment applications to result in branched out usage, but each instance will likely come down to a case by case scenario based on the plausibility of it being an effective application or not. Many would be redundant such as armors, items that enhance perception, or melee weapons. The raygun only works because it allows a method to use her quirk in a more controlled and precise way while also allowing her attacks to be done from a range.
For all the capabilities it provides, Space Invader comes with some glaring and obvious weaknesses. While the orbs possess a gravitational orbit around Shion that is quite powerful, it is more than possible to distance them from her to a point where they disintegrate be it grabbing them or blasting them away with enough force. The three orbs around her head account for thirty percent (ten each) of her physical strength. Forty percent of her strength also rests in the embedded shoulder orbs (ten each). The last thirty percent (ten each) are her tail orbs. The ones around her head have nothing but a gravitational pull to keep them attached, whereas her tail is a bit trickier to pull off due to the durability enhancing effects of the rings. These tail orbs require forty percent of her durability to be removed first before they can be pulled off. The orbs on her shoulders can be shattered once her durability is reduced by sixty percent. Any other orbs are not strength related or are too small to provide a meaningful benefit such as the knuckles.
The rings are divided up into twenty, twenty, and ten percent times six for those on her tail. The two twenty percents would be the halo around her head and the ring that can freely be manipulated and placed anywhere on her person or the things she is using. These rings also disintegrate after being pulled a certain distance away from her, which is an essential tactic to use in order to weaken her durability enough to remove additional orbs on her tail in most cases.
As for her perception, if her durability is reduced by forty percent it is possible to smash the miniature reactors along her spine in order to hamper her senses back to Human levels. Each reactor (there are five) accounts for twenty percent of her sensory boost.
After a certain period of time, disintegrated or destroyed bobbles and enhancers will reappear/regenerate/manifest.
